I always wanted a microscope!

Maybe soon I can afford one...

Researchers at Caltech have developed a new microscope technology that provides the resolution of the best optical microscopes (but so far only in black and white) at a fraction of the cost. They predict that such microscopes will be commercially available within five years. See Tiny $10 Microscope: A high-resolution, lens-free microscope fits on a dime-size chip.

This microscope sounds like the next best thing for studying our trillions of cells. I work with a company that studies the coatings on the tree like structures attached to our cells. They use electronic type microscopes now, that are good for 3D imaging.
